Utah Lake: Legacy

Ten years ago, The June Sucker Recovery Implementation Program produced the video Utah Lake: LegacyAs Utahns celebrate Pioneer Day this week, we thought it would be a fitting time to invite Utah Lake users to watch this video and learn more about the important role the lake has played in the state’s history.

A book was created in conjunction with the video. A PDF version can be viewed here. Click on the image below or click here to view the video.

  1. Thank you so much for this informative and inspiring video, which I just watched for the first time! Though I have been raising my young family in Utah county for about 13 years, I was fortunate to grow up in southeast Idaho near Bear Lake, and one of the things that made me decide to move to Saratoga last year was the peaceful feeling I had driving along Utah Lake, which reminded me in a small way of my childhood in Bear Lake County. Utah Lake is no Bear Lake at the moment- it faces some unique challenges. But I agree with the makers of this video that it has potential, and that it is improving. I gaze at it every day as I drive through the valley, with hope for its future. I want this lake to be special to my children, as Bear Lake is special to me. I have really enjoyed learning about the history of the lake and surrounding area from this video, and I am grateful for the efforts of the Utah Lake Commission to heal this wonderful resource. Thanks so much for all the good work so far!
